Today was an incredible mail day. It's been two months since I ordered some records from the wonderful people at No Sleep Records, and finally they have arrived.
The 3rd official pressing (4th if counting their Record Store Day limited edition pressing) of the Touche Amore/La Dispute split 7" has each band stretching outside of their comfort zones to create a post-hardcore masterpiece. The deeply emotional and melodramatic lyrics from each singer (Jeremy Bolm and Jordan Dreyer, respectively) are the driving factors for this record. It really contains some of the best material from either group.
La Dispute's 2011 LP Wildlife is a theatrically hectic listening experience. Clocking in at one hour long, it's an exhausting and breathtaking album with anxiety-ridden screams that evoke a frightening sense of urgency. Pressed on beautiful grey marble vinyl and packaged in the largest gatefold album I've ever held in my hands, this very well could become a favorite in my collection.
The folks at No Sleep Records were also kind enough to include a set of artwork prints from La Dispute's Wildlife, despite most of the batch being sent out with records in mid-June. These prints, designed by La Dispute bassist Adam Vass, are definitely getting framed.
